Salmon fishing River Tay

Salmon fishing on the River Tay

The longest river in Scotland

Background

Our client has been associated with Salmon Fishing in the River Tay for over 100 hundred years since the establishment of The Tay Salmon Fisheries Company in 1899. Today, the company is involved in the regeneration of the River Tay Estuary. It also owns and manages a beat on the Lower Tay called Cargill.

Cargill is one of the most productive and best known beats for salmon fishing on the river Tay. The beat is divided into two double bank beats, upper and lower Cargill which are fished on alternate days.

Requirements

The key requirement was to promote the beat and booking facility to a wider audience. The objective of the site was to encourage these new customers to book rods online. Supporting content included beat reports, current conditions, beat map, picture gallery and company history.

Solution

The concept we developed for the site relied upon the extensive heritage surrounding the company and its activities in the area. We created an illustration of the beat and brought this alive with images of various pools and viewpoints along the river. We provided the client with a sophisticated Content Management System that allows them to upload new gallery images of recent catches.

The single most important objective was to achieve a significant ranking on Google's organic listing. The key phrases are "salmon fishing River Tay" which has reached number 1 and "salmon fishing" which is no 3. This has been achieved with a zero spend on PPC campaign.
