Background
Lincolnshire-based Broadgate Homes builds a mixture of large houses, small properties and social housing. The firm was founded by David Bissett-Clarke in 1976 as part of a building group but was demerged in 1995. It has developments in several locations throughout the East Midlands
Requirements
Broadgate Homes approached TJS in 2004 to focus their internet activity in to a single portal for customers looking for new build homes. Broadgate produce high quality printed media for each development. TJS were charged with taking PDF documents and building them in to a rich user experience, that allowed customers to view availability, price, local information and sales contact details. The full portfolio of properties available from Broadgate should was also to be accessible with house illustrations and floor plans.
Solution
After extensive consultation, TJS developed a Flash based, interactive tool that allowed prospective house purchasers to rollover an illustrated plan of each development and view pricing and availability. All pricing and availability was accessible through a CMS. A separate route to property information was also built via the portfolio of property types with properties searchable by number of bedrooms.
A shopping cart style system allows customers to request brochures from any number of developments which are fed back to sales staff at Broadgate Homes. The system reduces the details visitors have to submit to the website which is an important usability consideration.
