Meridian Meats win Great Taste Award
Meridian Meats' Longhorn Beef & Coleman's Sausages and Longhorn Beef, Thyme & Wholegrain Mustard Sausages both won Gold Awards in the 2006 Great Taste Awards. Every entry underwent the most rigorous examination, blind tasted by teams of experts judging solely on texture, mouthfeel and taste.
Since it was the first time Meridian Meats have entered they are extremely proud that the team of judges verified the excellence of their products. Their Chaiman, Richard Johnson, presenter of BBC2's Full on Food, sums up the significance of the Awards: "In little more than a decade, the Great Taste Awards has become the definitive standard for speciality food and drink in the UK. Unlike a dish in Sainsbury's Taste the Difference range or Tesco's Finest range, a gold from the Great Taste Awards actually means something. It has been hard-won and independently verified. It is as close to a guarantee of real quality as you'll find."
As well as their two Gold Awards two Silver Awards went to their Longhorn Beef Provencal Sausages and their Longhorn Beef & Sweet Chilli Sausages, whilst Longhorn Beef, Port & Red Onion Sausages and their Gloucester Old Spot Pork Pear and Quenby Stilton Sausages received Bronze Awards.
