Established company diversifies into new power tool sales
What we did:
J Carr & Son is a family run business founded in 1909 in Lincolnshire, trading mainly in the sale and service of garden tools and equipment, as well as power tools and woodworking machinery. TJS has had the pleasure of working with J Carr & Son, building and evolving the Powertoolspares.com website since 2006, to create an e-commerce site to satisfy the national demand for a replacement parts service.
With a huge amount of traffic to the website, Powertoolspares.com wanted to convert the small percentage of customers who may simply prefer to buy a brand new tool, rather than feel overwhelmed at the prospect of taking their power tools to pieces. With the product range evolving and broadening to include brand new replacement power tools in this way, and the company requiring closer ties with manufacturers, it was decided that the existing e-commerce site, although it had served well, needed to evolve.
Our solution therefore, was to promote new replacement power tools alongside the existing spare parts to give customers both options. The system has been further developed to accommodate any number of brands and products but has initially launched with a wide range from Makita, the market leader. Over time, other brands can be added easily and swiftly. The back end of the site has also been developed to cope with new levels of stock.
